Formado em 1978, o New Edition ganhou o nome após uma apresentação num show de talentos em Boston. Ali mesmo, o produtor e coreógrafo Brooke Payne batizou-os com este nome, numa referência ao grupo como sendo uma 'nova edição' dos Jacksons 5.
Nas mãos do produtor Maurice Starr, o grupo surgiu no cenário musical com seu primeiro disco em 1983, Candy Girl, de onde saíram 'Is This The End,' 'Popcorn Love e a faixa título, que chegou à primeira posição no American R&B e nas paradas do Reino Unido.
Em 1990, cada membro partiu para projetos solo para, em 1996, retornarem com 'Home Again' (de onde veio o hit 'I'm Still In Love With You').
A formação inicial do grupo consistia de Bobby Brown (que deixou o grupo no início de 1986), Michael Bivins, Ricky Bell, Travis Pettus e Corey Rackley. Muitos só associaram o nome de Bobby à pessoa quando ele iniciou um romance com Whitney Houston, em 1991 (a cantora, depois, se separaria e o acusaria de espancamento).
Este CD (sem edição brasileira) reúne o que o grupo fez de melhor entre 1983 e 1991.
